A residence route through establishing a business rather than an employment contract — for those who want to work for themselves, not be tied to one employer.

The essential difference is that this is not a work permit: you establish a company or obtain a trade licence (živnosť), then apply for temporary residence for the purpose of conducting business. There is no labour market test and no sponsoring employer, but the whole burden falls on you: a convincing business plan, proof of funds and properly kept accounts.

We are frank that renewal, not the first grant, is the real test. At renewal the immigration authorities examine whether the business is genuine, earning and paying its contributions, and shell companies are refused. We do not arrange this route for anyone intending to use it merely as a residence front.
